BLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech women’s tennis has announced signings of the incoming freshmen for the Class of 2025.
Alston Myatt
Hilton Head Island, S.C.
South Carolina Connections Academy
Myatt joins the Hokies as a five-star recruit by TennisRecruiting.com, ranking as high as no. 1 in South Carolina and top-50 nationally. She comes to Tech after a successful high school career at South Carolina Connections Academy.
In 2024, Myatt was named the Southern Singles Champion, Southern Doubles Champion, and L2 Doubles Champion. She was also awarded with the Silver Ball at National Doubles. In 2023, Myatt was the L2 Singles Champion.
Myatt intends to study business at Virginia Tech. She is the daughter of Brooke and Ashley Myatt and has a brother, Fields. Her aunt and great-uncle both attended Virginia Tech.
Kirsten Woods
Christiansburg, Va.
Laurel Springs
Woods joins the Hokies as a four-star recruit by TennisRecruiting.com, ranking as high as no. 2 in Virginia and top-70 nationally.
Woods has won two L2 national opens and four L3 national opens. She was a doubles quarterfinalist at the 2023 Eddie Herr International Championships. She was awarded the National Sportsmanship award at the UTSA claycourt championships in 2021.
Woods intends to study psychology at Virginia Tech. She is the daughter of Terry Ann Zawacki-Holdren and Bill Woods.
Elizaveta Castillo
Lima, Peru
Liceo Naval Almirante Guise
Castillo arrives in Blacksburg with junior ranking as high as 180 in the Junior World Rankings. On the ITF Junior Circuit, Castillo has appeared in six singles finals and eight doubles finals. She has won four out of her six appearances in singles finals, as well as four of her eight appearances in doubles finals.
She has represented the Peru International Team at the Billie Jean King Cup, on the junior team on three different occasions, and the full senior team on two occasions.
