CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – After five fall tournaments, multiple Tar Heels are set to compete in San Diego, California at the 2023 ITA Fall Championships beginning on Wednesday.
In order to qualify for the event, players either had to win an ITA sponsored tournament in the fall or win the singles or doubles championship at their respective ITA regional tournament.
In total, five Tar Heels will take part in the ITA Fall Championships.
Representing North Carolina in singles play are Reese Brantmeier, Reilly Tran and Anika Yarlagadda. Abbey Forbes was named an alternate.
Brantmeier and Yarlagadda each won their singles bracket two weekends ago at the ITA Carolina Regional. Tran received the singles main draw bid after winning the Milwaukee Tennis Classic earlier this fall and Forbes was rewarded a spot as an alternate.
Two doubles pairs will represent UNC in San Diego. Reese Brantmeier and Elizabeth Scotty will play together and look to continue their doubles success. Abbey Forbes and Reilly Tran will also be on court together representing the Tar Heels.
The ITA Fall Championship marks the final time the Tar Heels will take the court before the 2024 Indoor season begins.
