Two UNC Doubles Pairs Advance To NCAA Semifinals


ORLANDO, FLA. — After three days of competition, two North Carolina doubles pairs are still alive and have advanced to the NCAA Doubles Championship Semifinals on Friday.

This afternoon, Fiona Crawley and Carson Tanguilig defeated Florida’s Dudeney/Spee, 6-1, 6-2 to advance to Friday while Reese Brantmeier and Elizabeth Scotty cemented their spot in the Semifinals after winning 7-6 (7-3), 6-7(5-7), 10-8 over the Michigan duo of Brown/Miller.

Tomorrow, Crawley and Tanguilig are set to face off against Virginia’s Adams/Collard. Earlier in the season, the Virginia pair defeated Crawley and Tanguilig, 3-6.

On the other side of the bracket, Reese Brantmeier and Elizabeth Scotty will face Cayetano/Sieg from the University of Southern California.

The winners of each match will play Saturday for the NCAA Doubles Championship.

The NCAA 2023 Singles and Doubles Championship takes place each day this week with the championship matches taking place on Saturday, May 27.
