Tournament Run Ends in Columbus

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The No. 29 Vanderbilt women’s tennis team fell to No. 10 Ohio State University 4-2, ending their NCAA tournament run.

All three doubles courts battled until the end. Anna Ross and Holly Staff were the first duo to finish, winning 6-4 on Court 2. Then, both Court 1 and Court 3 went to a tiebreak, but the Dores stayed in the game. Anessa Lee and Bridget Stammel clinched the doubles point for Vanderbilt, giving them the advantage heading into singles.

The Buckeyes came out strong in singles, winning every first set. No. 24 Celia-Belle Mohr and No. 123 Ross were able to bounce back to win a second set to force a third on Court 1 and Court 3, respectively. Mohr won her match in the third set, while Ross’s match went unfinished in the end.

What’s Next
Mohr earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Singles Championships, which will take place in Orlando, Florida, on May 22-27.
