STANFORD, Calif. – No. 15 Stanford kept its hot streak going, earning the first four points of the match to defeat No. 26 Arizona State 4-3 on Saturday afternoon.

The Cardinal won its fourth double points in its last five matches, with wins from Connie Ma and Valencia Xu on court three and a 6-4 clincher from Sara Choy and Alexandra Yepifanova on court two. Angelica Blake and Alexis Blokhina were points away from a ranked win over No. 18 Patricija Spaka and Domenika Turkovic on the top court.

Stanford kept its momentum in singles play, earning five of six first sets, and Yepifanova was the first to finish, a 6-2, 6-0 winner on court three. Blake picked up a ranked win on court two, defeating No. 125 Chelsea Fontenel 6-1, 6-2, and the clincher came from Connie Ma, also earning a ranked win, 6-2, 6-2 over No. 93 Giulia Morlet.

Choy and Blokhina both won their first sets, but Choy was forced to retire due to injury in the second, and Blokhina fell in three sets on court four. Xu dropped a 6-2, 6-3 decision on five.

Stanford’s next conference match will take place next Friday, April 7 at Oregon.
