WINSTON SALEM, N.C. – The No. 45 Clemson women’s tennis team fell to No. 29 Wake Forest on the road on Friday by a score of 5-2. The Tigers fought valiantly to rage a comeback, but could not overcome the Demon Deacons.

Wake Forest secured the doubles point and continued its momentum in singles, winning the first two singles points to take a commanding 3-0 lead. To take the match, the Tigers would need to win each of the remaining four singles matches.

Sophia Hatton began the effort with a 6-4, 6-3 win on Court 6. The victory improved her impressive undefeated record to 9-0 on the season. Dani Medvedeva followed suit to bring the Tigers within one of the Demon Deacons by taking Court 5 by a score of 6-4 and 6-2.

Down 3-2, Eleni Louka and Jenna Thompson, who had each dropped their first sets 6-4, brought their second sets to 4-4 in search of a third. Ultimately, both fell to their opponents and Wake Forest clinched the victory.

Up next, Clemson will take on No. 4 NC State in Raleigh, N.C. on Sunday. First serve is set for noon.
