COLUMBIA, Mo. — University of Missouri tennis doubles pair of senior Mae Canete and junior Inah Canete, sit at No. 33 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) women’s doubles rankings, released on March 5. This marks the fifth straight doubles ranking that the Canete team has been above No. 35, beginning with the Sept. 5 preseason ranking.
The Canetes currently sit in the Tigers’ No. 1 doubles spot with a 16-7 record and a .700 win percentage for the young 2024 season. The Los Angeles natives most recently dominated against Lindenwood University on Friday, March 1, and Sunday, March 3, with two shutout matches, winning both 6-0 against the Lions.
M. Canete and I. Canete battled against the No. 8 ranked pair Aysegul Mert/Dasha Vidmanova of the University of Georgia on the Friday doubleheader. Still, they could not pull away with the win, falling 6-2. Competing against another ranked duo, the Canetes faced off against the No. 57 ranked pair Sophia Cabezas/Elza Tomase of the University of Tennessee in the doubleheader on Sunday. The match went unfinished with the Volunteers up, 5-2.
The Mizzou duo is one of 11 other SEC pairs ranked under No. 35, joining Texas A&M, Georgia, Auburn, Alabama, Knoxville, Arkansas, Vanderbilt and South Carolina in the ITA Rankings.

The Tigers kick off a three-match road tour with a match against Auburn University on Friday, March 8, at 3 p.m. CT. To close the weekend, Mizzou will travel to the University of Alabama on Sunday, March 10, for another SEC face-off at 11 a.m. CT.
