COLUMBIA, Mo. – University of Missouri women’s tennis returns to the courts this weekend at the FIU Invitational in Miami, Florida.
The Tigers will complete against Florida Atlantic, Florida International, Miami and USF from Friday, Oct. 28 to Saturday, Oct. 30 at the FIU Tennis Courts. Play is slated to get underway at 7:30 a.m. CT each day.
Mae Canete, Laura Masic, Gabriela Martinez, Inah Canete, Andrea Artimedi, Koral Koldobski, Romary Cardenas Rifka and Emelie Schwarte will compete for the Tigers in Miami.
The Tigers finished off their fall dual-meet season with a 6-0 mark, pulling doubleheader wins over Kansas City, Bellarmine and Omaha without dropping a singles or doubles match.
Mizzou moved into tournament play, grabbed a second-place finish at the June Stewart Invitational in Nashville and ranked fifth at the recent ITA Central Regional Championship in Stillwater, Oklahoma. The Central Region is the ITA’s largest.
All told, the tennis team has racked up 90 total singles wins from its 10-player roster. Mae Canete advanced to the quarterfinals at the recent ITA Central Regional Championships.
“I am so proud of this team and the way they have performed this 2022-2023 season so far,” Head Coach Chris Wootton said. “Integrating five new players is never easy and our newcomers have flowed into the lineup seamlessly. We are excited for the future and cannot wait to to compete at Florida International this weekend.”
