WHEN THE GOING GETS TOUGH
The Hokies are in the midst of one of the toughest stretches in the country with this weekend bringing the fourth and fifth nationally ranked programs Tech has faced this month. Alvaro Saez-Royuela Ariza was the lone bright spot for a Tech team that didn’t have enough against No. 28 VCU, falling 6-1. The Castellon, Spain native notched the first ranked win of his career over No. 62 Matisse Bobichon this past Friday, 6-3, 5-7, 1-0(9). The win moved him to 4-1 this season and earned him ACC Player of the Week, his first time earning that honor. Ryan Fishback and Jordan Chrysostom suffered their first loss of the season as the No. 4 ranked pairing in the nation after cruising through the competition so far this spring. The dynamic duo are poised to bounce back this weekend against some formidable foes.

Seminoles

With four ranked players in singles, Florida State boasts one of the better lineups that Tech will face all season. Led by the No. 2 singles player in the country, junior Antoine Cornut-Chauvinc, the Seminoles have ascended to No. 15 with a 7-3 record and a victory over then No. 7 Georgia. Cornut-Chauvinc has been nearly perfect during his career in Tallahassee with a 21-3 career record including an 8-0 record this season on Court 1 with an astounding five wins and zero losses against ranked foes. In doubles, its the pairing of J. Dous-Karpenschif/Maks Silagy that spends most of the time on Court 1 with a 3-4 record thus far.

Hurricanes

The Canes are coming in hot winning their past four matches while outscoring their opponents 19-0. Graduate student Dan Martin anchors Miami on Court 1 with a 4-1 record and nationally ranked at No. 28 in the country. Sophomore Martin Katz backs him up on Court 2 with a 2-0 record that includes two wins over ranked opponents. In doubles, the Hurricanes are lead by the pairing of Franco Aubone/Martin Vergara securing a 2-1 mark on Court 1 with a 1-1 record against nationally ranked challengers.
