Sun Devils Finish Third in Diablos Tennis Tournament


TEMPE – Sunday afternoon Sun Devil men’s tennis (11-4) won third place at the Diablos Tennis Tournament in Tempe after sweeping Oregon 4-0. Arizona State went 2-1 on the weekend putting them at 9-2 since the start of February. 

Murphy Cassone and Roi Ginat held their Ducks scoreless as they led the doubles finish with a 6-0 victory. Over on court three Spencer Brachman and Max McKennon built chemistry throughout the match to overcome their opponents 6-3 to claim the doubles point for the Sun Devils.

Constantinos Koshis made a name for himself on court three as he shut his Duck down 6-1, 6-2 in a loud match. Koshis’ singles point victory put the Sun Devils up 2-0 in the team score. Max McKennon grabbed his second singles win on the weekend as he closed his court at 6-1, 6-4. 

Murphy Cassone grabbed the last singles point for ASU in three sets. Courts four, five and six did not finish.

The Sun Devils will open Pac-12 play on the road against Cal Friday, March 17 at 3:00 p.m. and Stanford Saturday, March 19 at 1:00 p.m. ASU will be at home March 31-April 9 for four matches.
