Styler Named First CSC Academic All-American in Program History

ANN ARBOR, Mich. — Ondrej Styler of the University of Michigan men’s tennis team recently was named a first team Academic All-American by College Sports Communicators (CSC), the organization announced. He is the first Wolverine in program history to earn the prestigious honor.

The national runner-up at the NCAA Singles Championship, Styler adds this honor to his growing list of accolades that includes All-American and Big Ten Athlete of the Year. This season he recorded a 31-5 overall singles record with a 21-2 dual match record, which included a 20-match win streak. Against ranked opponents, Styler had a 15-2 record and was undefeated in Big Ten play. Entering the NCAA Singles Championship as the No. 8 seed, Styler had one of the toughest draws in the tournament. He knocked off the No. 1 seed in the quarterfinals in straight sets to become the first Wolverine in the national championship since 1987. Styler was ranked in singles all season, and is No. 4 in the final ITA rankings — the highest mark for a Wolverine since the rankings started in 1993.

Styler graduated in May with a degree in Information and is forgoing his extra year of eligibility to begin his career in finance in New York City.

A four-time first team All-Big Ten selection, Styler was twice named to the Big Ten All-Tournament Team, capturing MVP honors in 2022. He helped guide his team to make history with back-to-back appearances in the NCAA Tournament quarterfinals.
