Season Starts With a Sweep

STANFORD, Calif. – No. 8 Stanford opened the spring season with a quick and dominating 7-0 sweep of UC Davis on Thursday at the Taube Family Tennis Center. The win is Lele Forood‘s 511th career victory, making her the winningest coach in program history and surpassing Frank Brennan.

The Cardinal breezed through doubles, led by Angelica Blake and Alexis Blokhina’s 6-0 win on the first court, followed right behind by Valencia Xu and Alexandra Yepifanova on court two, 6-1.

Stanford featured a new lineup in singles, with Yepifanova playing on court No. 1 for the first time, Blokhina debuting at No. 2 and Connie Ma in the third slot. All six courts won in straight sets, with Blokhina clinching the victory.

Forood’s all-time record now sits at 511-57.

Stanford is back in action next weekend, hosting Kansas State on Friday, Jan. 27 for the ITA Kickoff Weekend, with a matchup against Florida State or Arkansas awaiting on Saturday.
