SEATTLE – This past weekend, the Dawgs divided ranks and headed to two different tournaments, the Farnsworth Invitational hosted by Princeton, and the Pacific Invitational hosted in Stockton, Calif. by University of the Pacific.
In Princeton, Dzianis Zharyn, Nedim Suko, Soham Purohit, and Rohan Belday had three days of high-level match play against players from Texas A&M, North Carolina, Rice, and the host Princeton.
Purohit went 3-0 to lead the Dawgs. On day one he defeated Petro Kuzmenok of Rice in three sets, then on Saturday he earned a ranked win over No. 93 Giulio Perego of Texas A&M, 6-7, 7-6, 6-4. Wrapping up on Sunday, he beat Anthony Wright of North Carolina in two tiebreak sets.
Zharyn went 1-2 in singles with a 7-5, 6-2 win over Constantinos Djakouris of North Carolina. He nearly pulled off a huge win on Saturday against 11th-ranked Paul Inchauspe, as Zharyn won the first set, 6-2, and the second set went into a tiebreak, but the Princeton player won the breaker then took set three, 6-3.
Nedim Suko was 2-1 with wins over Milan Markovits of Princeton, and Matthis Ross of Texas A&M. Belday went 2-2 in singles, beating Joshua Mandelbaum of Rice and Alan Kam of Princeton.
