TULSA, OKLA.—University of North Carolina graduate student Will Peters won his fourth match in two days on Sunday to advance to the Qualifying Draw of the 2023 ITA All-American Championships. Peters is one of 16 qualifiers to advance through the Prequalifying Draw and will continue play in Tulsa on Monday.
On Sunday, Peters beat Alex Chang of California in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4, before topping UTSA’s Alan Magadan, 7-5, 6-2, later in the day.
Peters now will join teammates and fellow graduate students Karl Poling and Anuj Watane in the Qualifying Draw beginning on Monday. Peters will meet 11th seed and #66-ranked Marek Wojtek of USC. Poling will face Edward Winter of Pepperdine, and Watane will play Lodewijk Weststrate of USC on Monday.
After winning a pair of matches on Saturday, Tar Heel senior Peter Murphy lost his Prequalifying Round of 64 match on Sunday morning to Sam Landau of Indiana in three sets, 6-1, 0-6, 6-2.
