Penn State Falls to Old Dominion On Sunday

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Penn State women’s team fell, 5-2, in its home match against Old Dominion on Sunday. The Nittany Lions went 1-1 on their opening weekend.
 
DOUBLES

Old Dominion clinched the first point of the match by taking wins on courts one and two. 

 

Alexandra Nielsen and Alina Lebedeva defeated ODU’s Shahar Biran and Alesya Yakubovich, 6-3, to give the Nittany Lions their lone doubles win. 

 

Penn State’s Sofiya Chekhlystova and Olivia Dorner fell to Tatsiana Sasnouskaya and Sofia Johnson, 6-0. PSU’s Carla Girbau and Ioana Gheorghita lost against the No. 52 ranked doubles pair, Alexandra Viktorovich and Allison Isaacs, 6-3.

SINGLES

No. 53-ranked Sofiya Chekhlystova won a huge match against No. 37 Tatsiana Sasnouskaya, 7-5, 3-6, 10-5, at No. 1 singles.

 

Olivia Dorner earned her second collegiate singles win and second singles win of the weekend,  in the No. 4 position, against Alexandra Viktorovich, 6-3, 4-6, 19-17.

The Nittany Lions will take on the Princeton Tigers on the road on Jan. 22 at 11 a.m. E.T.
