Pair of Road Matches Up Next for No. 26 Florida


GAINESVILLE, Fla. – No. 26 Florida men’s tennis hits the road for a pair of SEC matches this week. First, the Gators (6-7, 1-2 SEC) will face the No. 30 Ole Miss Rebels (12-2, 2-0 SEC) Thursday, March 16 at 4 p.m. ET in Oxford. Then, Florida heads to Nashville and squares up against the No. 61 Vanderbilt Commodores (5-9, 1-3 SEC) Saturday, March 18 at noon ET.
 
SERIES HISTORY VS. OLE MISS
Florida and Ole Miss face off for the 66th time in program history with UF holding the overall series advantage 43-22. The Gators have won the last 10 matches, including the last four in Oxford.
 
SERIES HISTORY VS. VANDERBILT
Against Vanderbilt, Florida is 47-10-1 all-time and hold an eight-match winning streak against the Commodores. Under Head Coach Bryan Shelton, the Gators are 2-2 in Nashville and 9-2 overall against Vanderbilt.
 
DOMINANT DOUBLES
The Gators have won the doubles point in nine of 13 matches this season and hold a 6-3 record when grabbing the early 1-0 advantage. In both of the last two matches, Florida has secured the doubles points with an initial win by Will Grant/Axel Nefve at No. 1 followed by a clinching victory by Nate Bonetto/Tanapatt Nirundorn at No. 2.
 
ELITE COMPANY
Florida is one of three teams in the country boasting at-least four ranked singles players and two top 20 ranked doubles pairs in the ITA’s March 7 Rankings. In the elite company, the Gators are joined by No. 1 TCU and No. 4 Ohio State.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
Ole Miss enters with a nine-match winning streak and took down then-No. 18 Mississippi State (4-3) at home to open their SEC slate. The Rebels are one of three teams that are undefeated to start conference play and beat Arkansas (4-2) in Fayetteville. Both No. 69 Nikola Slavic and John Hallquist Lithen are flawless in their two SEC matches at court one and two, respectively.
 
Since defeating Arkansas (4-2) in their SEC home-opener, Vanderbilt was only able to grab one point in their last three SEC matches in losses to Tennessee (6-1), Georgia (7-0) and South Carolina (4-0). The Commodores are led by Head Coach Ian Duvenage who served in the same capacity at Florida from 1989-2001 with a 221-126 record.
