Ozolins/Heck Move Onto Round of 16


STILLWATER, Okla. – Fighting Illini men’s tennis duo Hunter Heck and Karlis Ozolins have secured a spot in the Round of 16 in the NCAA Doubles Championship after a straight-set victory Tuesday afternoon on the campus of Oklahoma State. 

No. 12-ranked Heck and Ozolins defeated No. 26-ranked Sebastian Dominko and Jean-Marc Malkowski of Notre Dame, 6-4, 6-3.

Heck and Ozolins started their match facing a deficit, though the pair kept it tight.

After being down 4-3, Heck and Ozolins won the next three games to secure the first set, 6-4. 

The Illini doubles duo started the second set with a 2-0 advantage, and they continued their momentum to take the set, 6-3, and clinch the match. 

The pair will play No. 30-ranked Bozo Barun and Jared Horwood of Arkansas on Wednesday. Fans can watch here.
