CHAMPAIGN, Ill. –Illinois sophomore Karlis Ozolins concluded his season after falling to Gavin Young, 3-6, 6-2, 6-1 in the round of 64 of the NCAA Singles Championship.
Ozolins finished the season 15-6, going 6-1 in Big Ten play and 7-3 at No. 1 singles. The Latvian was ranked as high as No. 23 in the ITA Singles rankings
In his sophomore campaign, Ozolins was an instrumental part in the Illini’s 4-2 win over Georgia, defeating his ranked opponent, Ethan Quinn, 6-4, 6-3. Other ranked wins include: Alafia Ayeni (6-4, 6-4), Andrew Fenty (6-7 (4), 6-3, 7-5) and Ozan Baris (3-6, 6-2, 7-6 (7-2)).
