Overbeck Advances In All-American Qualifying Singles

Carl Emil Overbeck moved one step closer to the singles main draw with his Monday win.


TULSA, Okla. – California men’s tennis senior Carl Emil Overbeck won his qualifying singles opener at the ITA All-American Championships on Monday at the Case Tennis Center to advance to Tuesday’s round of 32. The Golden Bear is attempting to reach the singles main draw, which begins Wednesday.
 
The 56th-ranked Overbeck defeated Clemson’s Noa Vukadin 7-5, 6-4 in the round of 64. He next plays North Carolina State’s 90th-ranked Martin Borisiouk on Tuesday at a time to be announced.
 
Overbeck and Theo Dean were originally scheduled to play in qualifying doubles Tuesday, but the Bears were moved into Wednesday’s main draw when another duo withdrew.
