No. 8 Blue Devils Reach 20 Wins; Defeat No. 38 FSU, 6-1

DURHAM – The eighth-ranked Duke women’s tennis team closed the weekend with a 6-1 victory over 38th-ranked Florida State on Saturday inside the Sheffield Indoor Tennis Center to reach 20 wins for the 19th time under head coach Jamie Ashworth and the 29th time in program history.

The Blue Devils collected their ninth-straight overall win and the 24th-consecutive home victory for Duke to improve to 20-2 overall and 9-1 on the year.  Florida State dropped to 10-9, 3-6.  

How It Happened

•    The Blue Devils continued their stellar play in doubles by taking the doubles point and led 1-0.

•    On court two, Karolina Berankova and Emma Jackson remained undefeated by defeating Kianah Motosono and Ellie Schoppe, 6-1.

•    Seeing action for the first time together, Ellie Coleman and Cameron Morra were impressive on court one registering a 6-2 win over Vic Allen and Anna Arkadianou.  

•    On court three, Duke’s Iuliia Bryzgalova and Georgia Drummy were leading, 4-3, against Olympe Lancelot and Kristyna Lavickova when the doubles point was clinched.  

•    The Blue Devils continued their momentum into singles and collected three quick wins on courts two, three and six to clinch the victory and lead 4-0.  

•    Drummy won her fourth straight dual match with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Schoppe on court three and then 31st-ranked Jackson…
