HANOVER, N.H. – Junior Sam Bossem earned the clinch for the Nittany Lions as the Penn State men’s tennis team (11-3) took down the Bryant Bulldogs (1-12) in a 5-2 contest on neutral ground in the Boss Tennis Center on Saturday afternoon.
DOUBLES
Penn State earned victories on courts one and two to secure the doubles point versus Bryant.
On No. 2, Miko Eala and Stefan Simeunovic collected a 6-3 win over Ryan Fu and Nick Lorenz to improve to 6-0 in doubles as a pairing. Clinching the point, Malik Bhatnagar and Charl Morgan defeated Diego Trejo and Diego Serra in a 6-3 decision for their ninth win as a pairing on the season.
Sam Bossem and Ismail Saadi went 3-5, unfinished across from Leonardo Mileikowsky and JC Baril on court three.
SINGLES
The Nittany Lions won courts two, three, and five to clinch the match over the Bulldogs.
On No. 5, Simeunovic grabbed a straight set victory over Trejo, 6-0, 6-1. Eala followed up with a 6-3, 6-2 win, downing Bryant’s Will Pellegrini before Bossem secured the clinch in a 6-3, 6-3 contest across from Serra on No. 3.
Pranav Nemani fell to the Bulldog’s Baril in a 6-3, 6-4 decision on court six, after which Morgan earned Penn State’s fifth and final point against Mileikowksy in a comeback third set super tie breaker, 5-7, 6-2, [10-8] on No. 1. Bhatnagar finished out the match in a 7-6(5), 6-1 loss to Lorenz.
