Box Score COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 41 Penn State women’s tennis team (8-6) fell on the road to No. 3 Ohio State (8-4), 7-0.
DOUBLES
Ohio State struck first to claim the doubles point. Alexandra Nielsen and Ioana Gheorghita fell in their match that the No. 3 spot to Danielle Willson and Kollie Allen, 6-1.
At No. 2, Karly Friedland and Olivia Dorner had a constant back-and-forth match against Sydni Ratliff and Isabelle Boulais. Ultimately, they lost 6-3.
Sofiya Chekhlystova and Carla Girbau were tied 4-4 with Akanksha Bhan and Irina Cantos Siemers before their match was stopped.
SINGLES
Ohio State won the first three singles matches to clinch the match. Olivia Dorner fell in her match versus. No. 105 Shelly Bereznyak, 6-1, 6-2. Yvonne Zuffova lost her match at the No. 2 position to No. 22 Sydni Ratliff, 6-3, 6-3. At No. 6, Alexandra Nielsen gave up a point against Danielle Willson, 6-2, 6-1.
Ohio State continued their attack with Kollie Allen’s 6-4, 6-2 win over Ioana Gheorghita at the No. 3 spot. Carla Girbau fell in a close match against Lucia Marzal 6-1, 4-6, 10-4.
The final match to finish of the game was a loss for the Nittany Lions. No. 42 Sofiya Chekhlystova fell in a hard-fought match versus No. 33 Irina Cantos Siemers, 7-6 (7-5), 2-6, 10-2.
