Nittany Lions Earned a Win in First Spring Match Over Xavier, 5-2

Old Dominion

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Penn State women’s tennis team emerged victorious in their first match of the spring season against Xavier on Saturday afternoon. The Nittany Lions beat the Musketeers, 5-2.

“We’re really proud of the team,” said head coach Alexandra Anghelescu. “The team came out with a new energy and a new mission that we haven’t experienced here at Penn State before. Xavier came out firing and ready for vengeance after last year. Our girls didn’t waver at all. They challenged us and we accepted the challenge, and we were successful. This is a great start for our season. I’m excited for what more matches can bring. Now we can take that confidence from the match and use it for tomorrow because tomorrow is going to be another battle.”
