Mitsui Named to SEC All-Tournament Team

AUBURN, Ala. – After collecting a trio of wins at the SEC Tournament, Tennessee sophomore Shunsuke Mitsui has been named to the SEC All-Tournament Team, the conference announced Sunday.

Mitsui logged a pair of straight-set singles victories at the No. 4 lineup position, as well as a doubles triumph at the No. 2 slot with Emile Hudd over the weekend.

In Tennessee’s 4-0 sweep of Ole Miss Friday, the 46th-ranked duo of Mitsui and Hudd breezed to a 6-0 win over the Rebels’ Lukas Engelhardt and Isac Stromberg on court two. Later in the day, Mitsui clinched the win for a fifth time this season with a 6-2, 6-4, decision over Engelhardt.

Mitsui was Tennessee’s second singles win Saturday, defeating Kentucky’s Taha Baadi, 7-5, 6-3. The win was his 12th of the season at the No. 4 spot, surpassing his 2022 win total of 11 at that position.

This dual season, Mitsui is 18-6 in singles and 20-4 on the doubles courts.
