Minasyan recognized on Big Ten’s Players to Watch List


MADISON, Wis. – Wisconsin junior Michael Minasyan was named one of the Big Ten’s players to watch for the 2025 season, as announced by the conference on Friday. Minasyan returns after playing 18 matches at UW’s No. 1 singles spot last spring.

Minasyan, a Stockholm, Sweden native, has played in 55 career singles matches, posting a 24-31 record. He has also played as part of Wisconsin’s No. 1 doubles pair, totaling 21 appearances during his two seasons at No. 1 doubles. He’s posted a 13-8 record at No. 1 doubles during his Badger career.

During his freshman season in 2023, Minasyan went 10-4 at No. 5 singles, earning a No. 10 ranking all-time in program history for freshman single-season singles victories. In doubles action, Minasyan won the ITA Regionals Doubles title during the fall tournament circuit with partner Gabriel Huber.

Minasyan and the Badgers begin the 2025 season at the FAU Invite this weekend, before hosting a pair of matches at Neilsen Tennis Center on Saturday, Jan. 18 and Sunday, Jan. 19.
