A LOOK BACK

The Utah men had a very successful fall season, bringing home first place victories at the ITA Mountain Regionals. Geronimo Espin Busleiman brought back the first-place title for the Utes in single play in a 6-3, 6-3 match against Utah State’s David Cierny. Teammate Franco Capalbo had won first-place the previous year, making this the second in a row for Utah.

Doubles team Patrik Trhac and Berk Bugarikj took first-place as well, defeating Francisco Bascon and Mateo Masala from University of Idaho. The duo held up in an incredible 4-6, 6-2, 10-3 match, taking the victory and awarding the Utes with both first-place titles for the first time since 2002. Following these wins, all three players qualified and competed at the ITA Nationals in Tulsa, Okla.

SCOUTING UC DAVIS

The UC Davis Aggies will bring a robust team for competition against the Utes. The team made an appearance at their corresponding ITA Regional tournament, with players taking a total of nine singles victories as well as advancing two doubles teams into the quarterfinals. Ryan Torres advanced trough the tournament to the final round, taking second place to the No. 2 seed Ran Amar of Pacific in a 6-3, 6-1 match.

SCOUTING WEBER STATE

The Weber State Wildcats also come in strong, having placed in the final round of doubles competition of the Bedford Cup in the Mountains during the fall season. The leading doubles team consisting of Tristan Sarap and Elyes Marouani defeated the No.2 seeded Utes and No. 3 Denver on the way to the final match of the tournament. Multiple players made the final rounds of back draws, with freshman William Zulch placing in the final match of the B Draw, defeating the No. 1 seed from Denver but falling to the No. 2 seed.
