EAST LANSING, Mich. – Michigan State men’s tennis is set to host its annual Drobac/Beeman Spartan Invitational this weekend. The three-day event begins Friday, Sept. 30 and will take place at the MSU Outdoor Tennis Center.
Seven teams will make the trip to East Lansing, including four conference foes in Illinois, Michigan, Indiana and Northwestern. Toledo, Notre Dame and Western Michigan will also be in attendance.
The tournament will be the third of the fall season for the Spartans after successful showings at the Wildcat Invite and Princeton Invite over the last two weekends. Michigan State’s doubles pairing of David Saye/Kazuki Matsuno will kick off the weekend’s action at 9 a.m, followed by Luke Baylis/Josh Portnoy and Anthony Pero/Reed Crocker at 11:30 a.m. Each player will then play a singles match based on outcome of the doubles matches. Advancements throughout the weekend are determined by players’ combined results in doubles and singles play.
All matches will be played at the MSU Outdoor Tennis Center, weather permitting, beginning at 9 a.m. on each day of the tournament. Fans interested in attending are encouraged to park in Lot 79 on the south end of Spartan Stadium and cross Shaw Lane to head to the courts. Admission is free.
