Men’s Tennis Central: NCAA Knoxville Super Regional


KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The ninth-ranked and eighth-seeded Tennessee men’s tennis team is making an appearance in the NCAA Super Regional round for a fourth consecutive tournament, set to face SEC foe and No. 9 seed South Carolina Saturday at 3 p.m. ET in Barksdale Stadium.

Tickets for the Knoxville Super Regional are on sale for $5 and can be purchased here. UT students get in free with a student ID. Free tennis parking is located in SC40 at the Kingston Pike Building. Additional parking information can be found here.

SCOUTING SOUTH CAROLINA

Saturday marks just the second time in which Tennessee (23-7) has faced South Carolina (21-6) in the NCAA Tournament. It is also 61st all-time matchup between the Vols and Gamecocks, with Tennessee holding a 39-21 series lead, dating to 1968.

 

On April 9, then-ninth-ranked Tennessee dominated then-fifth-ranked South Carolina on the road, 6-1. The Vols have won six of the past seven meetings. Each of the doubles courts were decided by a tiebreaker, with UT clinching the doubles point with a 7-6(4) win on court three.

 

Five singles wins, including four in straight sets, led to Tennessee’s decisive victory.
