Martin, McDaniel Advance to Doubles Round of 16 – Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets

THE FLATS – Georgia Tech men’s tennis doubles team, Andres Martin and Marcus McDaniel, earned a two-set victory in the first round of doubles play and will advance to the round of 16 at the NCAA Championships.

The two Jackets faced Vanderbilt’s Siim Troost and Jeremie Casabon. Tech took the first set with an easy 6-2 win and went on to clinch the match with a 7-5 victory after battling in a competitive second set.

Thursday’s competition will include the doubles round of 16 and quarterfinals as a result of previous weather conditions on Tuesday.

Martin and McDaniel will take on Michigan State’s Ozan Baris and Max Sheldon at 2 p.m. on Thursday. Baris and Sheldon earned their spot in the round of 16 after defeating the No. 1 seeded team from South Carolina.

Martin/McDaniel (GT) def. Troost/Casabon (VAND); 6-2, 7-5
