ANN ARBOR, Mich.Patrick Maloney of the University of Michigan men’s tennis team has been selected to compete at the Master’U BNP Paribas Championship in Honfleur, France.

Maloney is one of three U.S. men’s players, joining Ryan Seggerman (North Carolina) and Stefan Dostanic (USC). The event begins on Friday, Dec. 2 with the champion crowned on Sunday, Dec. 4. Competing are teams from Australia, Belgium, France, Germany, Ireland, Switzerland and the United Kingdom. Matches will consist of two men’s and women’s singles, one men’s and women’s doubles and one mixed doubles. The country that wins four of these seven matches wins.

The U.S. has won eight of the past nine championships and nine overall championships in the tournament’s 15-year history.

A fifth-year senior, Maloney is coming off a Big Ten Tournament championship with Michigan and an appearance in the NCAA elite eight. He was named first team All-Big Ten in the spring and earned Big Ten All-Tournament honors. He was twice named the Big Ten Athlete of the Week in 2022 and posted a 16-2 dual record including a perfect 5-0 conference record. During the year, he boasted an 11-match win streak and won four matches against ranked opponents.
