FLUSHING, N.Y. – Advancing to the NCAA Super Regionals on the road for the second consecutive season, No. 21 Stanford men’s tennis defeated No. 13 Columbia, 4-2, on Saturday at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center. Stanford improves to 16-10 this season.

The win marks the second straight victorious regional for Stanford at an Ivy League school, as Stanford won the Harvard regional in 2022.

The Cardinal jumped out to an early lead in doubles with wins in the first and third positions. Nishesh Basavareddy and Max Basing scored a 6-2 win on court three while Samir Banerjee and Arthur Fery netted a 6-4 triumph on court one.

Basavareddy and Fery carried the strong play into singles action, putting Stanford up 3-0 with straight-set wins. Columbia pulled two courts back before Samir Banerjee provided the clincher on court two in three sets to send Stanford to the next round.

Filip Kolasinski went 6-4, 6-3 on court six, but his result is awaiting a ruling by the NCAA.

Stanford will face the victor of Kentucky and Northwestern in the NCAA Super Regional. That match will be held May 12 or 13.
