Lady Vols Picked to Finish Sixth in SEC Preseason Tennis Poll

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – With the 2023 season opener just 16 days away, the Southeastern Conference released the women’s tennis coaches’ preseason poll Wednesday afternoon with the Lady Volunteers picked to finish sixth.

Tennessee concluded the 2022 season at No. 7 in the SEC standings after finishing the year 7-6 in conference play. The team put together a gritty performance at the SEC Championship in Gainesville, Florida, becoming the only team without a double-bye to advance to the semifinals. The Big Orange narrowly missed a trip to the SEC Championship finals, coming up just one point short of Georgia on April 23 in a 4-3 defeat.

In total, the conference has six teams ranked inside the Intercollegiate Tennis Association’s Preseason Top 25 Coaches poll, tied for the most of any league with the Atlantic Coastal Conference.
