Hokies sweep Seahawks on Saturday


WILMINGTON, N.C. – The Virginia Tech women’s tennis team earned their fifth win of the season defeating UNCW on Saturday afternoon.

The Hokies entered doubles action ready to play cruising to a pair of 6-0 victories behind wins from Katie Andreini and Semra Aksu on Court 1 followed by Özlem Uslu and Tamara Barad Itzhaki on Court 3 to pick up the doubles point.

Tech kept the bagels coming in singles with Barad Itzhaki grabbing a pair to doubles to lead and give the Hokies all the momentum they needed. Andreini added a 6-1, 6-1 win on Court 5 putting Tech within one point of clinching before the birthday girl, Uslu, notched a 6-3, 6-2 win for her 10th of the season.

Semra Aksu and Charlotte Cartledge added impressive performances in the their 10-point tiebreaks, both winning 10-7. Dariya Radulova added a win of her own, 6-4, 7-5, to move to 7-5 on the year.

UP NEXT

The Hokies will host Louisville on Friday, March 17, at 4 p.m.

Pledge Per Match

The Hokie Club and Virginia Tech Tennis are challenging Hokie Nation to make a Pledge Per Match during the 2023 season.
