Hokies start ACC play off with a win over the Cardinals


Louisville, KY – The Hokies open ACC play with a 4-3 win over Louisville on Friday, February 23. 
 
The Hokies took the doubles point in nail-biting fashion, as Charlotte Cartledge and Özlem Uslu clinched a 7-3 tiebreak win. Semra Aksu and Erika Cheng were the other winning duo for the Hokies, as they came out on top in a 7-3 tiebreak on Court 2. Katie Andreini and Dariya Radulova dropped a close 7-5 match on Court 1. 
 
Uslu picked up her first singles win of the season on Court 2 with a 6-3, 6-3 sweep over Lillian Mould. Andreini added a second win for the Hokies as she swept Jamilah Snells on Court 1, 6-2, 7-5. 
 
Radulova won five straight games in the first set, to take the set 6-4, but dropped the second set 7-5, in a back-and-forth battle with Germany Davis. She came back to win the third set dominantly, taking it 6-2 to clinch the win for the Hokies. 
 
UP NEXT:
The Hokies are traveling to South Bend, Indiana for a match on Sunday, February 25 at 11 a.m. against #21 Notre Dame.
