Hokies fall to No. 75 Michigan State


Box Score BLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech men’s tennis (8-12, 2-6) lost to No. 75 Michigan State (7-10, 0-3) on Saturday afternoon.

The start looked promising for Tech with Alberto Orso and Scott Sculley cruising to a 6-3 victory followed by Matt Harper and Frank Thompson on court three, 6-3, to put the Hokies ahead 1-0 going into singles. The win marked the first doubles point for Tech since March 17, against Duke.

Ryan Fishback kept the Hokies in the match with a beautiful shot down the line to win in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3. Hugo Maia looked poised to make a little birthday magic but was unable to finish of the second set, closing the match.

UP NEXT

Tech travels to Raliegh, N.C., to face North Carolina State on Friday, April 7, at 5:30 p.m.
