GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Georgia Tech’s Kylie Bilchev has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Tennis Player of the Week and NC State’s Diana Shraider earned the ACC Women’s Tennis Freshman of the Week nod.
Bilchev posted two ranked wins for an undefeated weekend at the No. 2 singles position, taking down No. 54 Christina Hand of Northwestern and No. 70 Ashley Yeah of Illinois. The sophomore clinched the 5-2 victory over Northwestern with her 7-5, 6-4 victory over Hand. Bilchev added a doubles victory in GT’s 6-1 win over Illinois with her partner, Alejandra Cruz.
Shnaider went undefeated in singles to lift her team to a two-win weekend over No. 15 Oklahoma and No. 22 Tennessee, both by a score of 6-1. In the No. 1 singles spot, the Moscow, Russia, native posted a ranked win over No. 68 Elza Tomase in three sets, 3-6, 6-1, 6-2. The freshman went 1-1 in singles, partnering with Alana Smith to take down their opponents from Oklahoma, 6-2.
