Gators Tabbed Fifth in SEC Preseason Coaches’ Poll


The 12-time SEC regular season champions will host the top three 2023 SEC Preseason Coaches’ Poll teams at Alfred A. Ring Tennis Complex in April. 

 

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Southeastern Conference announced the 2023 SEC Men’s Tennis Preseason Coaches’ Poll Wednesday morning after a vote from the league’s 13 head coaches.
 
The Gators – 2022 SEC Regular Season and Tournament Champions – are predicted to finish fifth this upcoming season after earning 122 points. Florida trailed South Carolina (129), Kentucky (146), Tennessee (153) and Georgia (156).
 
This year the program returns a trio of players from last year’s team, which includes Nate Bonetto, Will Grant and Lukas Greif. Graduate transfer Axel Nefve leads the group of six newcomers, as he is joined by freshmen Jonah Braswell, Tanapatt Nirundorn, Olek Orlikowski, Togan Tokac and Borys Zgola.
 
During conference play, Florida hosts Alabama (March 12), Arkansas (March 24), Auburn (March 26), Tennessee (April 7), Georgia (April 9) and Kentucky (April 14).
 
No. 13 Florida opens the 2023 season Sunday, Jan. 15 at 12 p.m. against No. 8 Texas in Gainesville at the Alfred A. Ring Tennis Complex.
 
The preseason poll is voted on by the men’s tennis head coach at each institution and is based on a 13-12-11-10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 vote.
