The No. 25 Gators enter this Friday’s 5:30 p.m. match with a 11-9 overall record and an even 5-5 conference record.
Last Time Out
The Gators are coming off a 4-3 victory over Vanderbilt last Friday featuring stellar performances, including a showing from Kevin Edengren which netted him SEC Freshman of the Week honors. The Gators started off hot, winning the doubles point behind an early take down by the No. 31 duo of Nate Bonetto and Aidan Kim. Kim would go on to give Florida their second point defeating Vanderbilt’s Jake Klopper in three sets (3-6, 6-2, 6-0). Tanapatt Nirundorn (6-3, 3-6, 6-3) and Edengren (6-4, 7-5) would go on to secure the final two points needed for the Florida win.
The Opponent
The No. 34 Arkansas Razorbacks are coming off of a 4-1 win over No. 51 Rice in Houston. The Razorbacks are 18-9 overall and have a 4-6 SEC record. The Gators hold a definitive 34-2 advantage in the all-time series over the Razorbacks. The Gators look to extend an eight-match winning streak against Arkansas beginning on March 15, 2015 with a 4-0 take down of the Hogs. Florida last played Arkansas on March 24, 2023 in Gainesville, winning 6-1.
Top of their Class
Kevin Edengen became the third rookie Gator to win SEC Freshman of the Week, following in the footsteps of Jeremy Jin (March 6) and Aidan Kim (April 3). The Gators are the only SEC team this season to have multiple players received Freshman of the Weeks nods. Edengren’s honor also marks the first time in program history that Florida has had three separate freshmen win the award.
