Four Tar Heels Named to CSC Academic All-District Team


Chapel Hill, N.C. – The North Carolina women’s Tennis program had four student-athletes named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District team Tuesday.

The four Tar Heels recognized by the organization for their achievements in the classroom include Fiona Crawley, Elizabeth Scotty, Carson Tanguilig and Anika Yarlagadda.

In order to qualify for the award, a student-athlete must earn a GPA of at least 3.50, be a sophomore or older with a year in residence and appear in 50 percent of all contests.

Below is a brief description of each student-athletes 2022-23 season achievements.

Fiona Crawley

  • Crawley has been listed as the top singles player in the last ten ITA ranking releases.

  • Last week, Crawley won her 117th singles match as a Tar Heel. She is now in sole possession of eighth place in all-time singles victories at UNC.

  • Ended the regular season ranked No. 13 in doubles with Carson Tanguilig.

  • 18-2 overall record at No. 1 singles this season.

Elizabeth Scotty

  •  Recorded a 22-4 record in singles play this season.

  •  Currently ranked No. 109 in singles.

  •  Ended the season ranked No. 9 in doubles with Reese Brantmeier.

  •  Four-time winner of the ITA Indoor Team National Championship (2020, 2021, 2022, 2023).

Carson Tanguilig

  • Currently ranked No. 28 nationally in singles.

  • Ended the regular season ranked No. 13 in doubles with Fiona Crawley.

  • So far, Tanguilig has compiled a 14-3 record at No. 3 singles.

Anika Yarlagadda
