TUCSON, Ariz. – Women’s Tennis embarks on their second tournament of the fall season at the Intercollegiate Championships in San Diego.
Assistant coach Akilah James travels with four Cats to represent Arizona: Lexi Ryngler, Kayla Meraz, Belen Nevenhoven and freshman Tanvi Narendran.
Narendran makes her Wildcat debut on Thursday, Sept. 29 in the first round of the main singles draw against Daianne Hayashida (Iowa). Ryngler will face off against McKenna Koening from the University of Southern California.
Meraz and Nevenhoven received a bye in the round of 64 and will start their singles competition in the second round. On Thursday, Sept. 29 Nevenhoven competes against Olivia Malm (North Texas) and Meraz against fourth-seeded Alexandra Vagramov (UCLA) in the round of 32.
Both doubles pairs received a first round bye and therefore will begin doubles play on Friday, Sept. 30 at 10 a.m. in the round of 16. Nevenhoven/Ryngler vs. Alicia Melosch/Andreea Velcea (SDSU) and Meraz/Narendran vs. Andjela Skrobonja/Dariya Detkovskaya (SDSU).
