Five Huskers Travel to Hilton Head ITF


Hilton Head, S.C. – The Nebraska women’s tennis team travels to South Carolina this weekend to compete at the week-long Hilton Head Invite. The Van der Meer Shipyard Racquet Club is set to host the tournament, starting Sept. 25 – Oct. 2. 

The Hilton Head Invite will be the second fall appearance for the Huskers. Last week, six huskers traveled to the University of Kansas and made their fall debut at the Lawrence Invite. Sophomore Anfisa Danilchenko led the team last week as she made her way to the final match for the third-place tournament. Danilchenko lost the final match and finished the week with a 3-3 record. Junior Vivien Sandberg had a record of 3-2, finishing in the qualifying round for the second-place tournament. Junior Isabel Adrover Gallego had a 2-3 record last week, qualifying for the semifinal match in the third-place tournament. Senior Samantha Alicea also made it to the third-place semifinal match, finishing the week with a 2-3 record. Sophomore Lucy Loy made it to the third-place qualifying round and finished the tournament with a 1-4 record. Rounding out the group was sophomore Ana Carmen Zamburek who finished the week with a 1-3 record and a spot in the third-place qualifying round.  

This weekend, Adrover Gallego, Sandberg, Carmen Zamburek, Danilchenko and Loy will be competing for the Huskers.
