Ducks Earn NCAA Tournament Bid

EUGENE, Ore. – For the first time since 2018 and the ninth time in program history, Oregon secured a spot in the NCAA Tournament as the Ducks will head to Austin, Texas to take on Michigan in the first round on Friday at 11 a.m. PT.
 
“It feels great,” said head coach Courtney Nagle. “I’m just super excited for this team and the girls to have the opportunity to continue their season.”
 
The Ducks went 15-8 in the regular season, reaching the 15-win mark for the first time since 2018 while finishing 5-5 in Pac-12 play to come in sixth in the league. Oregon won six matches against teams currently in the ITA top 75, four of which came away from home. Of UO’s 23 matches, 14 were against teams that are currently in the top 75 with 10 of those coming on the road or at neutral sites.
 
Oregon once again took care of business at home throughout the season, going 9-1 in Eugene and improving to 25-5 at home over the last three seasons. The Ducks have also displayed their depth, as five players won at least 15 singles matches in a season for the first time since 2003-04.
 
A pair of freshmen have led the way for the Ducks, with Sophie Luescher going 20-9 in singles play while going 13-7 in the dual season at the No. 1 spot. Karin Young joined the team in January and has gone 17-2 in singles, highlighted by a 15-match winning streak from February through April. Uxia Martinez Moral is 17-8 in singles play and 11-5 in the dual season, while Ares Teixido Garcia is 16-9 and Myah Petchey is 15-11 to round out the group of Ducks with 15 singles victories.
 
Oregon is 4-8 all-time in its eight NCAA Tournament appearances – all of which have come since 1997. Each of UO’s four wins in the tournament have come in the first round, with the last coming in 2018 in the Ducks’ last NCAA appearance.
