NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The Vanderbilt men’s tennis team upset No. 31 Arkansas 4-2 at the Lummis Family Tennis Center on Thursday.

“I’m really happy, because we’ve played a bunch of really good matches this year and came out on the wrong end of the result, to finally get one (against Arkansas),” Vandy head coach Ian Duvenhage said. “I think we can still get a lot better, so the guys should feel good about this and it should really help our confidence.”

The Dores opened the match by clinching the doubles point. Sophomore Michael Ross and freshman Nathan Cox secured a victory on Court 2 followed by senior Siim Troost and junior Jeremie Casabon winning on Court 1.

In the singles matchups, Cox won his match at the No. 2 spot in two sets. At the No. 3 spot, Ross was victorious, winning his first set 6-3 and his second 7-6 in a tie-break of 10-8.

After forcing his opponent to a third set, Troost clinched the victory for the Commodores, finishing 3-6, 7-5 and 6-3 on Court 4. The Razorbacks earned victories at the No. 1 and No. 6 spots.
