Dahlstrom, Briggs, Dudeney and Gailis Tabbed to All-SEC Teams


BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Florida women’s tennis team earned the program’s 137th First Team All-SEC honor, 55th and 56th Second Team All-SEC honor and 15th SEC All-Freshman Team honor, the conference office announced Thursday morning.
 
Sara Dahlstrom | First Team All-SEC
Dahlstrom received First Team All-SEC honors after proving to be one of the best singles players in the entire conference. Since taking over the top singles spot for the Gators on March 17, she has a 7-3 record with all seven victories coming against ranked-opponents. Overall, the native of Stockholm, Sweden is 13-6 in dual matches and 6-4 in the SEC with nine ranked-victories.
 
The junior earned a career-high singles ranking of No. 17 by the ITA on Tuesday, April 25 and has been ranked in the top 125 since Feb. 8, as well as in the top 50 for the past five weeks.
 
Carly Briggs | Second Team All-SEC
Primarily playing at the top two positions in both doubles and singles, Briggs claimed Second Team All-SEC honors for her strong play during her senior season. She recorded a 9-8 singles record in duals and was 6-4 in the SEC at the one and two slots. When matching up with ranked opponents, Briggs has earned three singles victories, all against top-85 opponents. She has been ranked as high as No. 38 this season and held down a spot in the top-50 for the past eight weeks.
 

In doubles play, the Calhoun, Ga. native went 11-9 in duals and 7-4 in the SEC at the one and two spots. She won five-straight matches to open conference play, including one ranked win over then-No. 34 Ewing/Goldsmith from Texas A&M. Briggs peaked at No. 60 in the rankings thus far and has been ranked in the top-90 since March 7.
 
Alicia Dudeney | Second Team All-SEC
Building upon her stellar freshman campaign where she made the SEC All-Freshman Team and Second Team All-SEC, Dudeney earned Second Team All-SEC for the second consecutive year. Leading the Gators with 15 dual singles victories, the Hove, United Kingdom is 11-3 at the three spot and 4-1 at the two spot. Dudeney leads the Gators with five match clinches and is tied for the team’s most conference victories with eight.
 
Exclusively playing at the top doubles position, the sophomore is tied for the most doubles wins at 12-6 in dual play. Since Dudeney/Bente Spee took over the No. 1 spot on March 3, the tandem is 9-3 in duals and 7-2 in the SEC with three top-35 ranked wins.
