PULLMAN, Wash. – Washington State Women’s Tennis Head Coach Raquel Atawo announced Friday that Chisato Kanemaki has signed a National Letter of Intent and will enroll at WSU in the Fall of 2024.
“We are incredibly excited to bring Chisato to Wazzu,” said Atawo. “She is mature beyond her years and brings with her a strong work ethic. Chisato is athletic and has all the shots, it will be fun to watch her play!”
Kanemaki, who hails from Yokosuka, Japan, has had a strong junior career playing International Tennis Federation events. Earlier this year, Kanemaki reached the quarterfinals of the J100 Antalya event while also reaching the doubles final. In November of 2022, she reached the singles and doubles finals at the J5 Yamanashi event and teamed with Kaede Tajima to capture the doubles title at the J5 Chigasake tournament.
Kanemaki, who attends Tachibna Gakuen High School, plans to study kinesiology at Washington State.
