CLEMSON, S.C. – The Clemson women’s tennis team is set to open up its 2023 spring season in a home doubleheader as it takes on College of Charleston and UNC Greensboro at Duckworth Family Tennis Facility on Saturday. The Tigers will take on the Cougars at 1 p.m. and the Spartans at 4 p.m.

Clemson will face College of Charleston for the 31st time in history, with the Tigers dominating the series 29-1. Clemson has won each of the last 25 matchups and most recently defeated College of Charleston last season by a score of 5-2. The Tigers and Spartans have only met five times, with Clemson winning each of the battles. Most recently, the Tigers upended the Spartans 5-2 in 2018.

The Tigers return eight student-athletes from last year’s roster, including Samantha Buyckx and Jenna Thompson who make up the No. 50 ITA ranked doubles pair in the nation. Clemson will also welcome newcomer Leigh Van Zyl to the fray. The native of South Africa will look to make an immediate impact on Head Coach Amy Sargeant’s squad.
