INDIANAPOLIS – The University of Notre Dame’s 22nd ranked doubles tandem of Maria Olivia Castedo and Page Freeman were selected for the NCAA Division I women’s tennis championship doubles competition Tuesday evening. Castedo and Freeman are one of 32 doubles teams selected to compete in the May 23-28 tournament that will be hosted by the University of Illinois at the Khan Outdoor Tennis Complex.
Joining Castedo and Freeman from the Atlantic Coast Conference are Jaeda Daniel and Nell Miller of NC State, Ali DeSpain and Samantha Buyckx of Clemson, Georgia Dummy and Karolina Berankova of Duke, Anna Arkadianou and Petra Hule of Florida State, Carol Lee and Kate Sharabura of Georgia Tech, Davenia Achong and Eden Richardson of Miami, Amelia Rajecki and Abigail Rencheli of NC State, Miyuka Komoto and Polina Kozyreva of Syracuse, Emma Navarro and Hibah Shaikh of Virginia, Anna Brylin and Brooke Killingsworth and Case Woooten and Samantha Marintelli each of Wake Forest, and Elizabeth Scotty and Fiona Crawley of North Carolina.
This season, Castedo and Freeman have gone 8-7 on the season, including going 7-7 at No. 1 and 6-6 in challenging ACC action. The two earned ACC wins over Crawley and Scotty of UNC, Drummy and Berankova of Duke, Rhea Verna and Sasha Gorchanyuk of Louisville, Cristina Mayorova and Daniella Medvedeva of Clemson, Katie Andreini and Annie Clark of Virginia Tech and Achong and Richardson of Miami.
