Boilers Drop Decision to No. 2 Ohio State

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Purdue men’s tennis team suffered an 0-4 loss to No. 2 Ohio State in Friday’s penultimate match of the regular season.

The bottom of the lineup showed out against the top ranked Buckeyes as Hassan Baroudi went up a set after a 7-5 decision heading to the second. His skillful performance continued into the competition as he jumped out to a 3-1 lead when Ohio State clinched the match.

Baroudi’s season has featured a more frequent insertion into the singles lineup at No. 6 as Big Ten play has progressed. With today’s success he was on pace to earn his fourth singles win of the season and his first career win over a Big Ten opponent.

The Buckeyes victory came with an early lead and a barrage of ranked talent that overwhelmed the Boilers in singles. Two ranked doubles teams secured the first point while three of the nation’s top-50 singles players won the Buckeyes their 25th match of the season.
