Big test ahead as NC State tennis faces No. 2 Texas


RALEIGH NC State is off to a hot start and will prepare for its biggest test of the season.
 
The Wolfpack (10-4, 4-0) steps out of league play to take on No. 2 Texas (12-2).
 
NC State got the better of the Longhorns, 4-3, in their last meeting back in 2020. This will be the highest ranked opponent the Pack has faced in the regular season since playing No. 2 North Carolina in 2020.

 
Last time out: NC State improved to 10-4 overall and 4-0 in the ACC with a 4-0 win over No. 23 Florida State on Sunday. 
 
Pack in the Rankings: Four members of the NC State tennis team are ranked in the latest ITA poll. Rafa Izquierdo Luque is ranked No. 77 in the singles poll. Luque is also ranked in the doubles at No. 29 with partner Joe Wayand. Robin Catry and Luca Staeheli are ranked No. 55. 
 
Scouting the Longhorns: Texas has the top ranked player in the country in Eliot Spizzirri (23-3). Siem Woldeab is ranked No. 18, Pierre-Yves Bailly is No. 40 and Micah Braswell is No. 67. Spizzirri and Cleeve Harper (13-9) are ranked No. 3 in doubles. The Longhorns are undefeated (7-0) at home this season.
