Bears Travel To Face Ducks, Tigers

BERKELEY – The No. 37 California women’s tennis team (7-7, 4-2 Pac-12) heads to north to play at No. 43 Oregon (11-5, 4-2) on Sunday at 11 a.m. PDT and then plays a nonconference match at Pacific (6-6) on Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Stockton, California.
 
The contest with Pacific was recently added to the schedule, after Cal’s match at No. 4 Pepperdine – originally slated for Friday – was canceled. The home-and-away series between the Golden Bears and the Waves will resume in 2024.

If the teams play indoors in Eugene, Oregon – where there is an 80% chance of rain on Sunday – a live stream of the match will be available here. Poll Position
Cal improved five spots to No. 37 in this week’s ITA team poll. In this week’s ITA singles poll, Jessica Alsola – who has won 14 straight matches – is ranked 43rd. The duo of Alsola and Katja Wiersholm (16-9) jumped 11 spots to No. 4 in the doubles rankings.
 
Bears Take Two Out Of Three At Home
In its most recent action, Cal won two out of three matches at the Hellman Tennis Complex, beating Pac-12 Conference opponents Arizona State and Arizona and then falling to Loyola Marymount in a nonconference match.
 
Against No. 26 ASU on March 31, Hannah Viller Moeller defeated Rachel Hanford, 6-2, 6-2, to clinch her fourth Cal victory and the pair of Katja Wiersholm and Jessica Alsola clinched the doubles point – beating 18th-ranked Patricija Spaka and Domenika Turkovic, 6-2 – in the Bears’ commanding 6-1 win.
 
On April 1, Valentina Ivanov earned her first clinching win of the season when she beat Lexi Ryngler, 6-2, 6-3, in Cal’s 7-0 rout of the 44th-ranked Wildcats. Also, Cal’s Erin Richardson and Berta Passola Folch knocked off Midori Castillo Meza and Belen Nevenhoven, 6-3, to secure the doubles point.
